Yes, to a large extent. CGHS beneficiaries can get dental treatment at CGHS empanelled dental clinics, and the current CGHS dental list has 116 procedures. It includes check-up X-rays, scaling, fillings, root canal treatment, extractions, crowns, bridges and dentures. Cosmetic treatments and dental implants are not part of the list.

CGHS Dental Procedures: What Is Included

These are the main groups of procedures in the CGHS dental procedure list (116 items). Your dentist will confirm which of them apply to your case.

Check-up X-rays	IOPA X-ray (RVG), bite-wing X-ray, digital OPG	Done for diagnosis and treatment planning.
Gum care	Scaling, curettage and root planing, gingivectomy, gingivoplasty, flap surgery, flap surgery with bone graft	Professional cleaning (scaling) is in the list.
Fillings	Temporary filling, glass ionomer filling, composite (tooth-coloured) fillings	The type of filling depends on the tooth and the cavity.
Root canal treatment	RCT for single-rooted and multi-rooted teeth, re-RCT, pulpotomy, pulpectomy, apicectomy	The tooth is examined and X-rayed first to confirm RCT is needed.
Extractions and minor oral surgery	Normal and complicated extraction, wisdom tooth (impacted) extraction, alveoloplasty, frenectomy, cyst removal, abscess drainage, oral biopsy	Surgical extractions are charged at a higher CGHS rate than normal extractions.
Crowns and bridges	PMMA crown, all-metal (nickel-free) crown, metal-ceramic crown, post and core, crown lengthening, metal and metal-ceramic bridges	Zirconia and all-ceramic crowns are not in the list.
Dentures	Complete denture (per arch), removable partial dentures (acrylic, cast metal, flexible), overdenture, tissue conditioning	The standard way to replace missing teeth under CGHS.
Braces and children's dental care	Fixed orthodontic treatment (per arch), removable orthodontic appliances, space maintainers, fluoride application for children	Ask whether your case qualifies before starting. Clear aligners are not in the list.
Other	Night guard, tooth splinting, desensitizing treatment, occlusal adjustment	Listed for specific clinical needs.
Major jaw and facial surgery	Jaw fracture treatment, jaw cyst and tumour surgery, TMJ surgery, orthognathic surgery	Also in the list, but usually done in hospitals.

Dental Treatments Not Included in the CGHS List

If a treatment is not in the CGHS dental list, CGHS does not pay for it and the patient bears the cost. Where there is a choice, for example a metal-ceramic crown (in the list) or a zirconia crown (not in the list), your dentist can explain both options and the difference in cost.
